Lichfield auctioneer Richard Winterton is making his final preparations to run the London Marathon 2026…
Couple To Walk On The Wild Side
A husband and wife from Lichfield are walking the Welsh mountain, Snowdon, to raise cash for community fund We Love Lichfield.
Laura and Richard from Hopwas have already started practicing; ready to lace up their boots and trek up the 1085 metres elevation on 21st June, 2025. The couple are keen walkers and are using the Peak District for their training.
Laura Evans said, “Supporting the local community is important to me. We started raising funds for We Love Lichfield back in September 2024 and have seen firsthand the amazing work they do to support hundreds of small voluntary groups across the district.”
“We are already donating £1 from every ear wax removal completed in our clinic, and hope that our Snowdon Challenge will inspire people to make a donation with every penny going to We Love Lichfield.”

As well as raising money for We Love Lichfield, Laura wants to raise awareness of the importance of maintaining healthy hearing. Clinical Audiologist Laura, who owns Cathedral Hearing in Lichfield, is an advocate of a holistic approach to hearing.

“Rich and I wanted to do something big for We Love Lichfield and trekking Snowdon is the perfect challenge! With world hearing day just around the corner, it is also a great opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of maintaining healthy hearing.”
“Every year on 3rd March, the World Health Organisation promotes World Hearing Day – a day to raise awareness about hearing health and advocate for better access to hearing healthcare. We all know exercise and keeping fit is good for you, but many people may not have made the connection between physical activity and hearing health.
“Studies suggest a strong link between maintaining an active lifestyle and positive hearing health. Exercise improves blood flow, which delivers oxygen and nutrients to the inner ear. Inside the inner ear are tiny hair cells which convert soundwaves into electrical energy that the brain interprets as sound. Enhancing blood flow to these cells can help to maintain their health and function, potentially slowing the onset or deterioration of hearing loss. Regular hearing tests can identify early changes in the hair cells so that they can be managed and monitored”
“I hope Richard and I taking up this challenge we can help lots of people and make a difference.”
Simon Price, patron of We Love Lichfield said, “Thank you Laura, Richard and Cathedral Hearing for supporting We Love Lichfield, a local family and independent business giving back to its community – just brilliant. And to also raise awareness of looking after your hearing, a very important subject. I can’t wait to see the photos of the climb and the money raised will make such a difference to local community groups. I again say thank you.“
