Lichfield auctioneer steps up London Marathon training for We Love Lichfield

Lichfield auctioneer Richard Winterton is making his final preparations to run the London Marathon 2026. Richard has been training hard ahead in order to take on the legendary 26.2-mile course on Sunday 26 April in aid of two organisations especially close to his heart – We Love Lichfield and Parkinson’s UK.

Each year the TCS London Marathon attracts more than 50,000 participants ranging from the world’s most decorated elite athletes to thousands of amateur runners, creating a unique global spectacle where ‘weekend warriors’ share the start line with Olympic legends.

“After recently turning 60, I wanted to do something special,” said father-of-four Richard.

“Training for the London Marathon has been every bit the challenge I expected and much more!

“But the knowledge that I’m running for two such important causes has kept me motivated to give it everything I can.

“I’ve also been bowled over by the strength of people’s generosity as well as their encouragement.

“Every donation will make a real difference and is hugely appreciated and I want to say a massive thank you to everyone for their support.”
