Auctioneer has hammered down another grand donation to We Love Lichfield.

LICHFIELD’S auctioneer has hammered down another grand donation to We Love Lichfield.

The fund, which awards a wide range of projects operating across the district twice a year, is one of Richard Winterton Auctioneers’ chosen charities.

“It is incredible to see the diverse range of people of all ages and walks of life who are helped by local organisations who are, in turn, supported by We Love Lichfield,” said Richard.

“As a business and as individuals we are proud to be long-term supporters of the fund and I would urge any business with roots in the area to consider We Love Lichfield as your chosen charity or as a recipient for any fundraiser you might be planning this year.

“Supporting We Love Lichfield means supporting not just one charity but dozens and dozens of groups across our communities for whom the money can be a much-needed lifeline.”

Simon Price, patron of We Love Lichfield said, “Thanks Richard for yet again, another generous donation. We have started 2026 with so many kind hearted donations, it really shows what a wonderful place we live in.”

We Love Lichfield is one of the Community Foundation for Staffordshire and Shropshire’s place based funds and, since starting more than a decade ago, has given away £462,000 in 500 awards to 237 recipients.

Companies and individuals make up the bulk of the donors to the fund, either through direct donations, or by fundraising.

This money is then invested through an endowment fund in line with charity commission guidelines and the returns are distributed as small grants across the area.

The beauty of this model is that it will provide a source of sustainable funding that can be used for grants long into the future – it’s almost like a pension scheme set up to support community and voluntary groups across the district.
