£6000 Spring Giveaway

The We Love Lichfield Fund has given away £6,000 to good causes from across the district at its spring presentation. Representatives of the organisations joined patrons of the charity at the city’s George Hotel for the event on Friday 13th May.

The presentation was introduced by lead patron Simon Price who explained that the fund has awarded 103 grants to 84 voluntary organisations giving away just under £50,000.Money is raised through a variety of events, through donations and the acquisition of dormant trusts.

“We work together as a team giving our time because we love the community,” said Simon. “Over the past few years and probably the next few years voluntary organisations have seen their funding cut by Government and company donations. This makes the We Love Lichfield Fund even more important to our community. We must help those that do so much in the place we live, love, work and retire.”

The presentation event was delighted to welcome from previous recipients Mike Stone of U3A and Philip Mantom and Barbara Box of the Lichfield Mysteries to explain how the fund has helped their respective organisations.
