Another £6500 given to voluntary groups who make a difference

Good causes from across the Lichfield district are set to benefit from We Love Lichfield Fund grants totalling more than £6,500 after the charity fund, which aims to help community groups making a difference in Lichfield, Burntwood and the surrounding villages held its presentation at Darnford Moors Golf Club on Friday 16th May.

In the presence of Lichfield’s Mayor Councillor Norma Bacon and her Consort Brian, Lichfield District Council Vice Chairman Ken Humphreys and his lady Maureen and Lichfield MP Michael Fabricant, cheques were presented by donor advisers of the We Love Lichfield Fund to 16 voluntary groups.

Fund patron and adviser Simon Price welcomed everyone to the presentation and thanked Tommy Coakley and his staff at Darnford Moors Golf Course for hosting the event.

He explained that the fund started in January 2011 with just £24,000 but by the end of this year it is hoped the fund will hold £250,000.

“Our aim is to reach £500,000 so we can give away at least £25,000 every year,” said Simon. “We are creating a legacy for the future and we hope by Christmas this year will we be half way there.”
